The
Listening Center shares the mission of the Johns Hopkins institutions
in a Commitment in patient care, research, and teaching. Since
1991, The Listening Center at Johns Hopkins has adopted a comprehensive
approach to cochlear implantation.
We have sought to develop the resources needed to provide our
patients with optimal access to sound and spoken language. The
center also serves as a major research and training center for
medical and educational professionals working with individuals
with hearing loss.
The combined background of the staff of The Listening Center represents
decades of experience in a variety of disciplines. Our backgrounds
range from education to engineering, audiology to ear surgery,
speech and language pathology to psychology and imaging technology
to cellular biology. As a team The Listening Center faculty share
a commitment to providing a comprehensive network of services
to help each of our patients use their cochlear implant to its
greatest potential.
