Giving A Gift (The Role of Philanthropy)

COCHLEAR IMPLANTATION CHANGES LIVES DRAMATICALLY

In adults, a cochlear implant often expands social and vocational opportunities. In a young child, a cochlear implant can profoundly affect the ability to communicate in the hearing world, carrying a wide range of implications. Indeed, hearing loss in a young child means that a condition with pervasive cognitive and psychosocial effects occurs at a time when developmental milestones normally occur in rapid-fire sequence. Early access to spoken language through cochlear implant technology and rehabilitation has an enormous impact on a child's development, offering benefits that last a lifetime.

Since its founding in 1991, The Listening Center has reached out to individuals and organizations in the community who share our commitment to the process of restoring meaningful hearing: patients, parents, their families, and those in our community who care about children with hearing loss and their education al outcomes. Your support will help the Center serve more children, particularly those with limited financial resources.

Funding is needed for support services to train parents, teachers, and therapists and for school visits, scholarships, training materials, and publications. We invite you to join in this remarkable venture. With your help The Listening Center can give children effective and powerful tools for navigating the hearing world.
